Paul Dini (* 1957 in New York City ) is an American television producer of animated cartoons .

He is known as a producer and writer for several Warner Bros. / DC Comics series, including Star Wars: Ewoks , Tiny Toon Adventures , Batman: The Animated Series , Superman: The Animated Series , The New Batman / Superman Adventures , Batman Beyond and Duck Dodgers . He has also developed and written Krypto the Superdog and stories on Animaniacs (he created Minerva Mink ), Freakazoid! , Justice League and Justice League Unlimited . After leaving Warner Bros. early in 2004, Dini went on to write and rewrite the popular ABC adventure series Lost .

Life

Paul Dini visited with the help of an art scholarship from the Robert Louis Stevenson School in Pebble Beach , California . He attended Emerson College in Boston , where he earned a BFA degree in creative writing (he also took zoology classes at Harvard University ).

While in college, he began freelancing animation stories for Filmation and a number of other studios. In 1984 he was hired to work for George Lucas on several of his animation projects.

The episodes of the He-Man cartoon, written by Dini, have become favorites among fans of the show over the internet, although - despite the fact that he also contributed interviews on the show's published season boxes - Dini did not Made secret of his aversion to filmation and the He-Man concept. Best known among Dini's original creations is Jingle Belle , the rebellious, teenage daughter of Santa Claus . Dini also created Sheriff Ida Red , the superpowered cowgirl star in a series of books set in Dini's mythical city of Mutant, Texas .

His series of animated cartoons starring the characters from DC Comics is sometimes known among his fans as the Diniverse .

In 2006, Dini becomes the writer for Detective Comics . This will be Dini's first regular comic book assignment.

His later works include the computer games Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City , the plots of which were created by Dini. For the comic series Batman: Arkham City , which revolves around the prehistory of the game of the same name, he wrote the story for the first volume.

Hobbies

Paul Dini is an active cryptozoologist , hunter, and nature photographer. Paul Dini is also an amateur stage magician and an active member of the Academy of Magical Arts . Fittingly, one of his favorite DC characters is Zatanna. He has also played several small roles in Kevin Smith films .

He received the Writer's Guild Animation Writing Award in 2000 and a second WGA Award for Dramatic Television Writer in 2006 as a member of the Lost Writing Team .

Dini is also a three-time winner of the Animation Industry Annie Awards and has won seven Comic Industry Eisner Awards and three Harvey Awards . Dini received nominations for the Comics' Buyer's Guide Award for Favorite Writer in 1999 and 2000.
