Freakazoid! is an animated series by Warner Bros. that was created between 1995 and 1997. It's about a youngster who becomes a superhero through a computer error .

Characters

Freakazoid! / Dexter Douglas

The main character of the series is Dexter, a normal teenager who was given the skill by a computer glitch into Freakazoid! to transform. A chip failure sucked it into his computer, where it took all the information from the Internet . Freakazoid! has super strength and stamina, particular speed and particularly poor mental health - he is downright insane. To travel long distances, it can turn into electricity and travel through the power lines. Most of the time, however, it moves by stretching out its arms and making strange noises while running, as if it could fly. Only graphite reinforced grids can stop it. Dexter transforms with the words freak out! in Freakazoid !. With the words freak in! he becomes normal again.

  • Cobra Queen is a former shoplifter named Audrey Manatee who transformed herself into a cobra woman who can command all snakes and reptiles through experimental cosmetics left in the sun for too long . She later meets with Cave Guy.
  • Longhorn is a former trucker and thief who had plastic surgery transformed into a longhorn cattle. His super truck is called "Bessie Mae".
  • Armando Guitierrez (original voice: Ricardo Montalbán ) is the former head of Apex Microchips , the company that developed the defective chip that transformed Dexter. Since then he has wanted to find out about Freakazoid! S secret and eventually even transforms into a similar being.

Production and publication

The series was produced by Warner Bros. from 1995 to 1997 and directed by Dan Riba , Eric Radomski and Scott Jeralds . Steven Spielberg produced the series and screenwriters were Tom Ruegger , John McCann , Paul Rugg and Paul Dini . The series consists of 24 episodes in two seasons, the first season with thirteen episodes, the second season eleven. The average length of an episode is 25 minutes, in which two or three stories are usually told.

The station Kids' WB first aired the series from September 9, 1995 to June 1, 1997. It was first broadcast in Germany from March 18, 1997 to October 31, 1998 by ProSieben . It was later repeated by the broadcasters K-Toon, Junior and RTL II . The series has also been translated into Polish and Portuguese, among others.
