Reverend and the Makers are an indie rock band that formed in 2005 in Sheffield , England . Singer Jon McClure is also nicknamed "The Reverend".
Band history
Even before founding his band Reverend and the Makers, singer Jon McClure had made a name for himself in the Sheffield music scene through his work in two other bands, in which later Makers members and Alex Turner from the Arctic Monkeys also played. In late 2005 he hired musicians for his current project. The cast has changed over time since then. In early 2006 the band released their first demo ( Ten Songs ) with ten pieces on the Internet for free. The first tour of Great Britain followed by summer 2006 . As a support band, they played for Arctic Monkeys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Verve, among others .
When there was the great hype about the Arctic Monkeys in early 2006, rumors arose in previous Sheffielder bands that McClure would be a ghostwriter for this band due to McClure's connection to Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner. However, this was denied by both sides. First as a band without a record deal, Reverend and the Makers signed with a smaller indie label, although larger major labels made a number of lucrative offers. Her debut single Heavyweight Champion of the World went straight to number 8 in the UK charts in 2007, and her debut album The State of Things even rose to number 5.
In early 2012, Joe Carnall and Ryan Jenkinson were introduced as new band members. In June 2012, Reverend and the Makers released their third album @Reverend Makers . The album was produced by Jason Cox and James Dring and Youth .
