Soil (usually SOiL written) is a US-based Metal - band from Chicago , Illinois , founded 1997th

history

Soil was founded in 1997 and in 1998 the debut album El Chupacabra was in stores. However, this and its successor Throttle Junkies have not yet met with great interest. The international breakthrough came with the third album Scars , which was released in 2001. Soil earned the reputation of being a great live band on a very long tour. In 2009 the album Picture Perfect was released. Soil is characterized by a hard, but also emotional and melodic sound and the very versatile voice of singer Ryan McCombs. This, however, left the band in 2004. His successor from New York , the former Diesel Machine - frontman AJ Cavalier, was of 15 November 2004 to 20 July 2012, the singer of Soil.

“I think everyone was interested in what happened to SOiL, but I can say SOiL are still SOiL. Changing a singer is a very big step, but I think it was a positive event. The fans reacted really well when we were on tour with AJ, and we realized we'd missed someone like that. He's exactly the front man we wanted, he masters the hard and melodic vocals perfectly and harmonizes perfectly with Adam's background vocals. Ryan, our old singer, has slacked off and no longer had the energy to go on. We will certainly never regret this step. "

- Shaun Glass

Ryan McCombs was vocalist with Drowning Pool from 2005 until his return to SOiL in October 2011. On November 11th, 2007 guitarist Shaun Glass left the band while recording a new album. SOiL will stay with four and will not look for a replacement.

On October 20, 2009 the band released their album Picture Perfect , which was distributed in Europe by AFM Records and in the rest of the world by Bieler Bros Records. It was produced by Johnny K ( Disturbed , Staind ) and Ulrich Wild ( Deftones , Incubus ) and mixed by Dave Fortman ( Mudvayne , Evanescence ).

On July 20, 2012 it was announced that singer AJ Cavalier and drummer Tom Schofield had left the band. Singer Jordan Lee and drummer Mike Tognino came on tour at short notice to replace them.

After McCombs rejoined the band, SOiL co-headlined the UK with Puddle of Mudd . In addition, SOiL have found a successor on drums in the former Staind drummer Jon Wysocki.

In 2012 the band released their first live DVD Re-LIVE-ing the Scars . The new album entitled Whole was released on August 20, 2013. In early November 2014, singer Ryan McCombs suffered a stroke while sleeping.
