Drowning Pool is an American nu-metal - / hard rock - band . The name comes from the film of the same name , which was shown in theaters in the 1970s. Her songs have been used several times for themes by the WWE . The band is occasionally accused of an undistant role in relation to the US military.
Band history
Drowning Pool, based in Texas , recorded various demo tapes in the mid-1990s. One of them fell into the hands of the Sevendust group . They then toured America with Drowning Pool. Also Kittie and (hed) pe take the band as a support act in claim. Then Jay Baumgardner , the producer of Orgy and Papa Roach , became aware of Drowning Pool. In mid-2002, singer Dave Williams was found dead on the tour bus . He died of heart failure. Jason "Gong" Jones succeeded him. In June 2005 Jason Jones got out after only one album. He was succeeded by Ryan McCombs, who left the alternative metal band SOiL in 2004 to spend more time with his family. After a year off, however, he continued with the music and joined Drowning Pool in 2005. On August 7, 2007, McCombs' first album, Full Circle, was released .
This was followed by her self-titled fourth studio album, which was released on April 27, 2010. The single Feel Like I Do was released on February 9, followed by Turn So Cold as the second single on the album .
The band became famous for the songs Rise Up , which was used as music by SmackDown , and Bodies , which was used as music by ECW . On November 11, 2011 frontman Ryan McCombs left the band and returned to the hard rock band SOiL. On July 26th, 2012 the vacant place was filled as singer with Jasen Moreno, Moreno is already the fourth singer of the band in their history.
Role in the Iraq / Afghanistan war
The song Bodies in particular became the unofficial anthem of the Iraq war . Among other things, YouTube videos of American soldiers with scenes from Baghdad are highlighted with the song. The song Soldiers is also very popular with the troupe and the band is often invited to military bases and for troop visits / support . The band has never distanced itself from its role as the maker of the "Soundtrack for the Iraq War", its closeness to the US military and possible appropriation by it.
As well as music of Metallica and Britney Spears was Bodies 2003 at least once to the torture of Guantanamo -Häftlings Ould Slahi used like this confirmed after his release. A live performance by the band at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in July 2017 caused harsh criticism of the Navy .
