action
Brandon King returns to Brazos, Texas after serving in the Iraq War . He is awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star by a Senator for his work. His family and friend Steve Shriver, who also served in the Iraq war, help him settle in.
King is drafted again to be sent to Iraq , a practice of multiple deployments known as stop-loss . However, he escapes and travels with his girlfriend Michelle to Washington, DC to ask the senator, who once presented the awards to King, to stand up for him. On the way they talk to some veterans of the Iraq war.
Reviews
Joe Leydon wrote on March 14, 2008 in Variety magazine that the film was "wildly inconsistent" - sometimes sincere and sometimes artificial. The characters are drawn vividly, but they often appear stiff and stereotypical. Phillippe seems credible, but Ciarán Hinds, who plays his father, is "criminally underemployed" . One should expect only a short duration of the cinema screenings.
