Claire Simpson is a British film editor who has won an Oscar for Best Editing , two British Academy Film Awards for Best Editing, and one Eddie , the American Cinema Editors (ACE) film award .

Life

Claire Simpson began her career as an editor in 1981 editing the film Reds and has been involved in the production of more than twenty films to date.

At the Oscar ceremony in 1987 , she won the Oscar for Best Editing for Platoon (1986) by Oliver Stone with Charlie Sheen , Tom Berenger and Willem Dafoe in the lead roles . In addition, she won the Eddie Award from the American Cinema Editors (ACE), and in 1988 she won the British Academy Film Award (BAFTA Film Award) for the best editing.

In 2006 she received an Oscar nomination for Best Editing for The Eternal Gardener (2005) by Fernando Meirelles with Ralph Fiennes , Rachel Weisz and Hubert Koundé . For this film she again won the BAFTA Film Award for Best Editing and was also nominated for Eddie for Best Editing in a Drama and for the Online Film Critics Society Award for Best Editing .

2010 Claire Simpson together with Wyatt Smith for the first ever Critics' Prize for the best section of the Broadcast Film Critics Association nominated (BFCA Award), specifically for the Musical - Romance Nine (2009) by Rob Marshall with the main actors Daniel Day-Lewis , Marion Cotillard and Penélope Cruz . She and Wyatt Smith also received a nomination for the Satellite Award for Best Editing.
