Both men are courting restaurant owner Jo Ann Vallenari. When her cook turns out to be an illegal immigrant and is arrested, Frescia obtains his release.

McKussic wants to do one last drug deal. The investigator Xavier Escalante turns out to be his business partner. In one scene he is holding two radios in his hands: he uses one to communicate with the police, and the other with his accomplices. As he says, one mistake could put him in prison for several years.

In the end, Vallenari realizes that Frescia was just using them; she falls in love with McKussic and they become a couple.
