Rachel Weisz
Rachel Hannah Weisz (born March 7, 1970 in Westminster , London ) is a British - American actress , film director and former model . Among other things, she is an Oscar and Golden Globe award winner.
biography
Adolescent years
The parents of Rachel Weisz - both Jewish - fled in the late 1930s before the persecution by the Nazis to England . Her father is the inventor George Weisz, born in Hungary in 1929 ; her mother Edith Ruth Weisz, born in Vienna , was born. Teich (1932-2016), was a psychotherapist . Although Rachel Weisz wanted to become an actress as a child, at the request of her parents, she initially decided to study English and literature at Cambridge University . There she co-founded the theater group Talking Tongues and was awarded a prize at the Edinburgh Festival. In 1994 she received the award for best newcomer for her work in the play Design for Living .
Career
Weisz had her first major film role in Bernardo Bertolucci's film Feeling and Seduction (1995) , which attracted her attention in Hollywood . In 1996, she starred alongside Keanu Reeves in the action film Out of Control . The first big success came in 1999 with The Mummy at the side of Brendan Fraser ; The sequel The Mummy Returns followed in 2001. Films such as Duel - Enemy at the Gates (2001), About a Boy or: The Day of the Dead Duck (2002), Confidence (2003) and The Judgment - Everyone is for Sale (2003) followed . She celebrated her greatest success to date with the female lead in Fernando Meirelles ' The Eternal Gardener (2005), in which she acted alongside Ralph Fiennes . For her acting performance in the political thriller, she won several film awards in 2005 and 2006, including the Golden Globe and the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress .
In 2006 Weisz lent her voice to the blue dragon Saphira in Eragon - The Legacy of the Dragon Riders . In 2009 she embodied the ancient philosopher and mathematician Hypatia of Alexandria in the Spanish monumental film Agora - The Pillars of Heaven . In 2010, the film Whistleblower - On a Dangerous Mission - in which she played alongside Vanessa Redgrave and Monica Bellucci - came to the cinema. She played the role of US police officer Kathryn Bolkovac in the real-life political drama . In the same year she was heard in The Simpsons . More than a dozen other productions followed, particularly dramas , including The Deep Blue Sea (2011) - for which she received her second Golden Globe nomination - and the critical hit The Favorite in 2018 , which earned her an Oscar nomination rendered. Her work includes more than 50 films.

Private life
Weisz was engaged to the US director Darren Aronofsky , whom she met in 2002 and with whom she had made the film The Fountain (2006). Their son was born on May 31, 2006. In November 2010, they announced their split. She has been married to her British colleague Daniel Craig since June 2011 . The couple have had a daughter since September 1, 2018. During an appearance on The Daily Show in July 2011, she announced that she had acquired US citizenship .
