Two-time winner Kate Winslet (2015)

Since it was first awarded, the Screen Actors Guild has awarded a total of 27 awards in the Best Supporting Actress category to 25 different actresses. The first winner was Dianne Wiest , who was recognized in 1995 for her role as Helen Sinclair in Woody Allen's comedy film Bullets Over Broadway . The last winner so far was Laura Dern , who was honored in 2020 for her role as Nora Fanshaw in Noah Baumbach's tragic comedy Marriage Story .

As of the 2020 award ceremony , the winner in this category did not agree with the future Oscar winner in eight cases . That was Kate Winslet 1996 for Sense and Sensuality , Lauren Bacall 1997 for Love Has Two Faces , Gloria Stuart 1998 for Titanic (the second winner Kim Basinger won it for LA Confidential ), Kathy Bates 1999 for With all might , Judi Dench 2001 for Chocolat - One small bite is enough , Helen Mirren in 2002 for Gosford Park , Ruby Dee in 2008 for American Gangster , Kate Winslet in 2009 for The Reader (she won the Oscar for Best Female Leading Role instead ) and Emily Blunt in 2019 for A Quiet Place . 2001 was also the first time that a subsequent Oscar winner had not previously been nominated for the SAG Award. This was repeated in 2019, in return the SAG winner was not nominated for an Oscar in this category for the first time.

The oldest winner and oldest nominated actress at the age of 87 was the American Gloria Stuart ( Titanic ) in 1998 . The youngest winner at the age of 20 was British Kate Winslet ( Sense and Sensuality ) in 1996, and the youngest nominated actress at the age of eight in 2002 was the American Dakota Fanning ( I am Sam ).
