Margot Elise Robbie (born July 2, 1990 in Gold Coast , Queensland ) is an Australian actress and film producer . She first became popular in Australia through her role in the soap opera Neighbors before she also appeared in international television and film productions from 2011.

life and career

Margot Robbie grew up in her native Gold Coast , where she was first raised by her single mother. Robbie later spent most of her time with her three siblings on her grandparents' estate. After graduating from high school in 2007, she began her acting career in Melbourne .

Between 2008 and 2011, Robbie played the role of Donna Freedman in the Australian soap opera Neighbors . During this time she achieved great prominence in Australia and was nominated several times for a Logie Award . She then left Australia to work in the United States . From 2011 to 2012, she starred as Laura Cameron in the short-lived television series Pan Am . She then received roles in feature films, including the two 2013 films All a Question of Time and The Wolf of Wall Street . In the movie The Big Short , released in 2015, she played herself in a scene in which she explains to the audience an aspect of the 2007 financial crisis .

In 2016, she starred as Jane Porter in the Tarzan film adaptation of Legend of Tarzan . In 2016, the comic book adaptation Suicide Squad was released , in which Robbie played the role of Harley Quinn . In 2017 she played the role of figure skater Tonya Harding . For her portrayal, she was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe Award , each in the category Best Actress. In the historical drama Maria Stuart, Queen of Scotland she plays Queen Elizabeth I of England , while Saoirse Ronan plays her antagonist Maria Stuart . In 2019 she appeared in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in the role of Sharon Tate . Also in 2019, she played Kayla Pospisil in the film drama Bombshell , for which she received another nomination for a Golden Globe Award , this time for Best Supporting Actress.

Robbie lived in New York City for several years . In May 2014 she moved to London with five friends to share a flat . In 2014 Robbie began a relationship with British assistant director Tom Ackerley, whom she met while filming Suite française - Melody of Love . The couple married in December 2016.

In 2017 she was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which awards the Oscars every year.

Dubbing voice

Margot Robbie's German voice actress has mostly been Anne Helm since The Wolf of Wall Street . Previously she was dubbed by Nadine Zaddam ( It's all a matter of time , Z for Zachariah ).
