In demand: the Gold Logie

The TV Week Logie Awards , usually known for short as Logies , are prizes that are given to Australian programs and personalities by the Australian television magazine TV Week every autumn in the southern hemisphere . They were launched as Star of the Year in 1959 , but were renamed in honor of Scottish television pioneer John Logie Baird as early as 1960 . The award has been broadcast on television since 1961.

The most prestigious of these is the Gold Logie . In 1984 the Gold Logie Hall of Fame was introduced, which honors the life's work of television personalities.

There are numerous categories to consider, such as most popular actors and actresses, presenters, television series, sports programs, etc.

Most of the prizes are awarded by the readership of TV Week . Voting takes place via coupons in the magazine and, for some years now, via the Internet and SMS - which primarily appeals to a young audience. Prices for "outstanding" ( outstanding ) personalities and programs and the induction into the Hall of Fame but are granted by specialized experts.

Every year, the selection and quality of the presenters at the award event and the behavior of various stars when drunk after the event ensure controversies and topics of conversation. In 2009, for example, the Nine Network - breakfast television presenter Karl Stevanovic, who was thirsty the night before and did not get enough sleep before starting work, impressed .
