Mother and Son (original title: Mother and Son ) is an Australian sitcom , the 42 episodes of which were first broadcast from January 16, 1984 by the public television broadcaster ABC-TV . The series is based on the idea and scripts by Geoffrey Atherden. She staged director Geoff Portmann, who also acted as producer . John O'Grady was the executive producer . From January 2, 1992, the series was shown for the first time on German television, on ARD . In Germany only the 35 episodes of the first five seasons ran. The three main characters in the series, Ruth Cracknell, Gary McDonald and Henry Szeps, who died in 2002 at the age of 76, are very popular in their home country. Cracknell and McDonald were independently inducted into the Gold Logie Hall of Fame for Lifetime Achievement .
As an offshoot of this television series , two seasons and 16 episodes entitled Keeping Mum were produced for the British market ( BBC1 ) in 1997 and 1998 . In 1998 they produced a season with 12 episodes called Glöm inte mamma! for Swedish television ( SVT 2 ).
action
This sitcom is about two people trying to live together. Arthur is in his late 30s and has been living with his mother Maggie again since his wife's divorce. Arthur not only suffers from her unbelievable naivety , constant forgetfulness and penetrating attachment, Maggie also spoils every attempt at contact her son with other women. In addition, Maggie favors her other son Robert - who is a dentist by profession and only cares about his mother when there is money - in every way.
DVD release
The series was published in a complete box with all 42 episodes in the English original ( regional code 2 , FSK : from 6 years). A DVD box Mother and Son - Vol. 1 from PIDAX Film with the first 18 episodes in German will be released on December 14, 2018 . On February 22nd, 2019, PIDAX Film brought the Box Mother and Son - Vol. 2 . It contains the other 17 episodes that were shown in German on German television.
