Janet McTeer
Janet McTeer , OBE , (born August 5, 1961 in Newcastle , England ) is a British actress .
Life
Janet McTeer graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and made her film debut on Half Moon Street in 1986 alongside Sigourney Weaver and Michael Caine . After that, she mainly played in television productions such as the BBC series Portrait of a Marriage , in which she played the writer Vita Sackville-West in her role . Her performance in the Broadway production of Ibsen's A Doll's House won her the Tony Award for "Best Actress in a Play" (1997), the Laurence Olivier Theater Award for "Best Actress in a Play" (1997) and the London Critics' Circle Theater Award for “Best Actress in a Drama” (1996). In 2000 she was nominated for an Oscar for best actress in Tumbleweeds . For this role she also received the Independent Film Prize Gotham Award for “ Best Newcomer ”. In 2005 she starred in Terry Gilliam's film Tideland . In 2009, her role as Clementine Churchill in the TV movie Into the Storm earned her an Emmy nomination. In 2012 she was nominated for Best Supporting Role at both the Golden Globe and the Oscars for her role in Albert Nobbs . In May 2012 she got a supporting role in David Gordon Green's remake of Dario Argento Giallos Suspiria.
