Screen Actors Guild Awards 2002
The eighth US Screen Actors Guild Awards , which the Screen Actors Guild presents each year in the fields of film (5 categories) and television (8 categories), took place on March 10, 2002 at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center . In contrast to the Golden Globe Award , for example, the so-called SAG Awards only honor film, television and ensemble actors and are a yardstick for the upcoming Oscar awards. The winners are chosen by the members of the Screen Actors Guild, which one must belong to to work as an actor in the United States .
The nominees were announced on January 29, 2002 at Los Angeles' Pacific Design Center's Silver Screen Theater by actors Marisa Tomei and Ted Danson . In the United States, the award ceremony was shown live on cable broadcaster TNT .
The American actor Edward Asner was honored for his life's work .
