Lauren Ambrose (born February 20, 1978 in New Haven , Connecticut ; actually Lauren Anne D'Ambruoso ) is an American actress .

life and career

Lauren Ambrose was born in New Haven, Connecticut and attended Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford , Connecticut, Wilbur Cross High School and High School in the Community and the Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven. She also takes piano lessons.

Ambrose got her first film role in 1997 in the film In & Out . A more important role followed in 1998 in the film I Can't Wait! as Denise Fleming . In 2001, the character of Claire Fisher in the award-winning television series Six Feet Under was cast with her. She herself received two Emmy nominations for her role. In 2011 she was in the fourth season of the series Torchwood , subtitled Miracle Day , in nine of the ten episodes as PR consultant Jilly Kitzinger . Her voice can be heard in the computer game The Darkness . Here she speaks the character Jenny , who is the friend of the main character Jackie Estacado .

Ambrose has been married to a photographer since September 2001, and their first son was born on January 16, 2007.
