Steven R. Schirripa (born 1958 in Bensonhurst , Brooklyn , New York City ) is an American actor of Italian descent.

Life

Steve Schirripa is probably best known for his role of the heavyweight and introverted mobster Bobby "Bacala" Baccalieri on the hit HBO - television series The Sopranos .

After studying at Brooklyn College , he first worked as entertainment director at the Riveria Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Working with comedians such as Drew Carey , Kevin Pollak and Bruce Baum soon gave him occasional cameo roles in their programs and subsequently other roles in both television and film. He is a welcome guest on many US talk shows and has already had his own show " Mob Scene" (2004).

Schirripa lives in Las Vegas with his wife and two daughters.
