Genaro Anthony "Tony" Sirico, Jr (born July 29, 1942 in Brooklyn (New York City) , New York ) is an American actor of Italian descent.

Life

Before his acting career, Sirico was a professional criminal and was close to the Colombo mafia family . He has been arrested several times for armed robbery , disturbance of the peace and assault . For various attacks on nightclubs in the late 1960s and drug possession, he was finally convicted and sat from 1967 to 1968 and from 1971 to 1972 in prison . In the local theater group he discovered his interest in acting.

Sirico began his acting career with small roles in films like Finger - Tender and Brutal (with Harvey Keitel ) or Martin Scorsese's Good Fellas - Three Decades in the Mafia . In the 1990s he worked in five films by director Woody Allen . In total, he played in over 40 films and television productions.

In 1999 he had his biggest success in the role of mobster Paulie "Walnuts" Gualtieri, on the hit HBO - television series The Sopranos . He obtained a contract that his character Paulie Gualtieri will not become a traitor in the course of the series.

Tony Sirico is committed to helping children with cancer and collecting donations for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital . For the fundraising campaign, he also hired fellow actors from the Sopranos .

Sirico lives in New York City with his wife Donna and their two children .

Political opinions

Sirico has said of himself that he is politically a far-right Republican. He donated money for Rudolph Giuliani's candidacy for the Republican presidential candidate.
