Federico Castelluccio (born April 29, 1964 in Naples ) is an Italian-American actor and painter. He became known to a wider audience through his role as Furio Giunta in the television series The Sopranos .

Life

Castelluccio is the son of a dye works worker and a seamstress and has an older brother and an older sister. In 1968 , when he was almost 4 years old, he moved with his family to Paterson, New Jersey, in the United States , where he grew up. In 1982 Castelluccio received a scholarship to the School of Visual Arts in New York City , from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Media Art. Shortly before graduating from BFA, Castelluccio was given the opportunity to paint a picture for actor and comedian George Burns .

In 2008 he met the German actress Yvonne Schäfer . The couple live in New York City .

Acting

Federico Castelluccio began his acting career in 1986. Films he has appeared in include Made with Jon Favreau , Fire with Robert Klein, and Nobody Get Out Of Here With Danny Aiello , among others . On television he appeared in New York Cops - NYPD Blue and in his most famous role as Tony Soprano's Neapolitan protector Furio Giunta in the series The Sopranos .

Castelluccio's last film projects are the biography El Cantante with Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez , Aftermath , a crime thriller with Michael Anthony Hall and Chris Penn and The Obscure Brother , a film he produced and shot in southern Italy, in which he also has a role played. In 2003 he played with David Zayas and Otto Sanchez in La Araña . He starred with Danny Masterson in the 2008 comedy Capers . Castelluccio was last seen on television in the lead role of the series Dragon Dynasty . In 2010 he was featured in the episode Who Can Produce the Best TV Spot? the series Kenny vs. See Spenny .

Castelluccio is currently represented by Robyn Ziegler Management.

Castelluccio is also active as a painter. His pictures are based on Italian and Dutch masters of the Renaissance and Baroque and have been exhibited in galleries in New York City , Washington, DC and Santa Fe (New Mexico) , among others . Portions of his work are contained in collections at the Yale Fine Art Museum and Kresge Art Museum, as well as in private collections in the United States , South America and Europe . In 2006 he and the actor Paul Sorvino were hired for a commissioned work. The work was permanently in a hospital in Boca Raton ( Florida installed).

During his time at the School of Visual Arts, Castelluccio tried his hand at drums. In 2008 he stepped in as a guest drummer on Boz Scaggs' American tour .
