David Zayas (born August 15, 1962 in Puerto Rico ) is an American actor in theater, film and television from Puerto Rico.

biography

Zayas was born in Puerto Rico but grew up in the Bronx , New York City . Early on he joined the US Air Force and later the New York Police Department (NYPD) . When looking at his roles as an actor, it becomes clear that he is primarily a police officer or homicide investigator.

Between 2000 and 2003 he starred in 27 episodes of the US prison television series Oz - Hell Behind Bars . He played the role of Enrique Morales. Zayas has made guest appearances in the series Criminal Intent - Verbrechen im Visier , Law & Order and Without a Trace - disappeared .

Since 1992 he has been a member of the LAByrinth Theater Company , an actor group from New York. There he met his wife, the actress Liza Colón-Zayas.

His best-known role is that of Angel Batista in the television series Dexter , in which he played a homicide cop at the side of Michael C. Hall .
