Seymour Felix
Seymour Felix (born October 23, 1892 in New York City , New York , † March 16, 1961 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American show dancer and choreographer for film and theater.
biography
Felix began his show career in 1907 as a professional dancer in stage shows. In the 1920s he became a dance director on the New York stage, where he performed the dances of the musical Whoopee! edited. In 1929 a brief engagement followed in Hollywood , where he finally moved in 1933 to work in the film business . By 1955 he worked as a choreographer on over 30 films. He also directed two smaller productions .
Seymour Felix had his greatest success in 1937 when he won the Oscar for best dance director for the dance number A Pretty Girl Is Like a Melody in The Great Ziegfeld .
Other well-known films in which he worked as a choreographer include Thin Man, 2. Fall (1936), Alexander's Ragtime Band (1938), Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942), The Goddess Dances (1944) and Golden Girl (1951 ).
