Kenny vs. Spenny was a Canadian reality / comedy show that was produced from 2001 to 2010. In the show Kenny vs. Spenny was interested in various competitions between Kenneth Hotz and Spencer Rice . Both were born in Toronto , Canada and grew up there together.

The show was retired in December 2010 after 87 episodes.

concept

At the beginning of each show, the competition and the associated rules are presented, e.g. B. “ Who can stay awake longer? "- the associated rule:" Do not use illegal drugs! ". The loser has to endure a humiliation at the end of the show. In the event of an unintentional tie (time-related, tie, etc.) there is no punishment, but if both decide to give up, there is a double humiliation. This is determined by the camera team.

While Spenny adheres strictly to the rules in most cases, Kenny tries to stretch them as far as possible. He also does not shy away from cheating, as the video material is only evaluated later. Almost all of the episodes were filmed in Toronto , Canada.

Between 2002 and 2009, 87 episodes were filmed and broadcast over six seasons. The show was nominated for the Gemini Award in 2004, 2006 and 2008 .

The concept of the show was marketed in several countries, for example France, Germany and the Netherlands. In the German version Elton vs. Some competitions were even taken over directly from Simon , such as “ Who can sit on a cow longer? "Or" Who will make more money in three days? ".

Since July 2008, Comedy Central has broadcast the synchronized 4th season weekly in Germany . Similar to the synchronization of American Chopper , the voices are only spoken over the original sound that can still be heard. After the station took the series out of the program on October 11, 2008, the first season ran again on German television on December 12, 2008. The second season has been shown on Comedy Central since the beginning of April 2009. After that, the fourth season was also broadcast.
