Ethan Hawke
Ethan Green Hawke (born November 6, 1970 in Austin , Texas ) is an American actor and writer .
Live and act
Shortly after Hawke's birth, his parents separated. After his mother remarried, the family settled in Princeton .
The trained actor and stage performer stood for the first time at the age of 14 in the science fiction production Explorers - A Fantastic Adventure . In Princeton, he took acting classes at the renowned McCarter Theater , attended acting courses at the British Theater Association in England and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh . He achieved his breakthrough as an actor in 1989 with The Club of Dead Poets , which was followed by numerous other films. In 1997 he starred alongside Uma Thurman and Jude Law in Andrew Niccol's film Gattaca . He was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 2002 for his role as Officer Jake Hoyt in Training Day . In 2005 he and his co-authors earned another Oscar nomination for Before Sunset in the Best Adapted Screenplay category . In Chelsea Walls , which in 2001 during the International Film Festival of Cannes was shown and in the 2007 film adaptation of his own novel incurred The Hottest State , he also led directing .
Hawke is one of the founding members of the Malaparte theater company and continues to act as its artistic director.
Hawke made his successful debut as a writer in 1996 with the novel The Hottest State , in which he tells a love story between two young intellectuals in New York in the 1990s. His second novel Ash Wednesday was published in 2003.
In May 2009, Ethan Hawke appeared at the Ruhr Festival in Recklinghausen alongside Sinéad Cusack and Rebecca Hall in Anton Pawlowitsch Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard and in William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale . From October 2013 to January 2014, Ethan Hawke starred in a new production of Shakespeare's Macbeth at Lincoln Center .
Hawke has worked repeatedly with directors Richard Linklater , Antoine Fuqua , Andrew Niccol and James DeMonaco .
His German dubbing voice is mainly given to him by Andreas Fröhlich and Frank Schaff .
Private life
On May 1, 1998, Hawke married the actress Uma Thurman , with whom he has a daughter ( Maya Hawke , * 1998) and a son (* 2002). The two met on the set of Gattaca . After Hawke was accused of being unfaithful, the marriage ended in divorce on July 20, 2004. In June 2008 he married Ryan Shawhughes, who used to work as a nanny for Thurman and Hawke. The couple has two daughters (* 2008, * 2011).
