Emma Stone
Emily Jean "Emma" Stone (born November 6, 1988 in Scottsdale , Arizona ) is an American film actress . For her portrayal in the musical film La La Land , she was awarded an Oscar in 2017 and a Golden Globe for best leading actress.
Life
Stone was born in Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1988. Her paternal grandparents immigrated to the United States from Sweden . Their family name Sten was changed to Stone by the Immigration Service on Ellis Island . Her mother's ancestors come from the east coast of the United States and are predominantly of German origin.
She attended school in Scottsdale through sixth grade. Then it was two years taught at home . She then attended Catholic high school for a semester before she was able to convince her parents to move to California with her to begin an acting career. In 2004 she moved to Los Angeles with her mother .
Career
During her home schooling, she starred in various plays at the Valley Youth Theater in Phoenix . The year she moved to LA, Stone won the role of Laurie Partridge on the talent show In Search of the New Partridge Family . She made her television debut with this role in the 2005 pilot The New Partridge Family , which was not followed by a series. She then had guest roles in television series such as Medium - Nothing remains hidden (2005), Hotel Zack & Cody (2006) and Malcolm in the middle (2006). After a recurring role in the series Drive (2007), she made her cinema debut in 2007 as Jules in the comedy Superbad alongside Jonah Hill and Michael Cera , for which she received a Young Hollywood Award .
In 2008 she played the role of Amelia in The Rocker - Voll der (S) Hit , for which she learned to play bass . That same year she appeared in House Bunny and recorded the song I Know What Boys Like for the film , a cover version of the play by The Waitresses . In the love comedy Der Womanizer - The Night of Ex-Girlfriends , she played in 2009 on the side of Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner . She also starred alongside Jesse Eisenberg in the horror comedy Zombieland and starred in the independent film Paper Man - Time to Grow Up with Jeff Daniels and Ryan Reynolds . In the same year she moved from Los Angeles to Greenwich Village in New York City .
In 2010 she voiced the character Mazie in the animated film Marmaduke . She had her breakthrough in the same year with the comedy Easy . Stone plays her first leading role in it and was nominated for her performance at the Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress - Musical or Comedy . In 2010 she also made the films Crazy, Stupid, Love with Steve Carell and Julianne Moore and The Help , an adaptation of Kathryn Stockett 's bestseller of the same name , for which she received several awards, including a. at the MTV Movie Awards and People's Choice Award . In 2012, Stone played the role of Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man , a remake of the Spider-Man comics. She had a voice acting role in the video game Sleeping Dogs .
She played other roles in the early 2013 films Gangster Squad and Movie 43 , in the animated film The Croods she dubbed the character Eep. In 2014 she appeared again in her role as Gwen Stacy in the sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise of Electro . In the same year she starred in Woody Allen's Magic in the Moonlight , as well as in his 2015 film Irrational Man . Her role in Birdman or (The Unexpected Power of Cluelessness) earned Stone her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress . In 2016 Emma Stone played the main female role in the musical film La La Land , for which she received an Oscar , a Golden Globe Award and a SAG Award . In 2019 she won another Oscar nomination for her supporting role in the period film The Favorite - Intrigues and Insanity .
She hosted the American television program Saturday Night Live twice . Anja Stadlober has often dubbed it in German since 2007 .
Private life
When she registered for the Screen Actors Guild , she chose the first name Emma when she noticed that the name Emily Stone was already taken. Her deep, hoarse voice comes from having colic as a baby , which resulted in persistent crying attacks in infancy that led to vocal cord nodules. From mid-2011 to the end of 2015, she was in a relationship with her fellow actor Andrew Garfield .
