Jesse Eisenberg
Jesse Adam Eisenberg (* 5. October 1983 in Queens , New York City ) is an American actor and playwright .
life and career
Jesse Eisenberg was born in the New York borough of Queens and grew up there and in the township of East Brunswick in New Jersey in a secular Jewish family. His parents, Amy (née Fishman) and Barry Eisenberg, are of Polish-Jewish and Ukrainian-Jewish descent. His mother worked as a professional clown while his father worked in a hospital and later as a college professor . He has two sisters, Hallie Kate Eisenberg , a former child actress who became famous as the " Pepsi Girl" through a series of commercials , and Kerri. He attended East Brunswick Public Schools Frost School, Hammarskjold Middle School, and Churchill Junior High School, and completed his senior year at East Brunswick High School.
Eisenberg found it difficult to belong in school, which is why he began to act in plays at the age of nine. He said, "I feel more comfortable playing a role because my behavior is dictated (in the script)." He also has obsessive-compulsive disorder .
After graduating from high school, he studied anthropology at The New School University in Greenwich Village , New York City. He had originally applied for a place to study at New York University and was accepted there, but he decided not to enroll in order to be able to star in the film Sex for Beginners . At the age of thirteen, he stepped in in the 1996 re-production of Summer and Smoke by Tennessee Williams . His first professional role at the theater in 1999 Arieh Shaw's Off-Broadway -Stück The Gathering , also his Broadway debut.
Eisenberg made his film acting debut in 1999 in the US television series Six Under One Roof , which was discontinued a year later. After a role in the television film 100 Million Volt , Eisenberg played in the 2002 independent film Sex for Beginners , which marked his breakthrough. Although the film was not a commercial success, the film, and particularly Eisenberg's acting, received critical acclaim. For this role he received the Festival Award for "Most Promising New Actor" at the San Diego Film Festival .
From this point on, Eisenberg received many offers for new roles and played in various film productions. He received several awards for his role as the child of divorce in the Oscar-nominated film The Squid and the Whale from 2005. In 2010, Eisenberg played the lead role in the drama The Social Network and played Mark Zuckerberg , the founder of the social network Facebook . This earned him numerous awards, including awards from the National Board of Review , Boston Society of Film Critics, National Society of Film Critics, and a Golden Globe and Oscar nomination.
In addition to acting, Eisenberg writes humorous articles for the New Yorker . He also continues to work at the theater. He also wrote the off-Broadway play The Revisionist , in which he played the leading male role alongside Vanessa Redgrave .
