action

The magicians J. Daniel Atlas, Merritt McKinney, Jack Wilder and the newcomer Lula are preparing a new show with FBI investigator Dylan Rhodes, who have become known as "The Four Horsemen" . But Rhodes no longer has the situation under control. His true identity (he is actually the son of Lionel Shrike) has been revealed, as has the fact that Jack Wilder is still alive. The riders have to flee and end up in Macau , where they cannot escape at first.

In Macau they meet both Chase, the crazy twin brother of Merritt McKinney, and Walter Mabry, a technical prodigy who can convince them of a chip of particularly high value, which he built himself but now owns All Scott-Frank is about to steal. The chip can break through any firewall and enables access to all information and data of all earth citizens and thus espionage as well as control of public opinion. The riders want to steal the chip and then hand it over to the “eye”.

Since Dylan Rhodes doesn't know where his protégés are, he enters into a deal with Thaddeus Bradley, who is still in prison, an old acquaintance of the riders and their adversaries, himself a master of magic. Rhodes frees him from prison and learns that the riders are in Macau. They visit a magic shop that the four riders have previously entered, and Dylan Rhodes receives a watch from the owner Bu Bu and her grandson Li that once belonged to his father.

The riders are already in possession of the chip after a robbery and want to give “eye” the chip, but the contact person is not the “eye”, but Walter Mabry, who used the rider for his perfidious plan of revenge. At the last second, Dylan Rhodes can prevent the chip from getting into Walter Mabry's hands. But he is captured by that and Merritt McKinney's twin brother Chase. The four horsemen secretly pursue them.

It turns out that Walter Mabry is none other than Arthur Tressler's illegitimate son, who still has an account to be taken with them. Dylan Rhodes is locked in a similar version of a safe in which his father Lionel Shrike died while performing a magic trick 30 years ago, and thrown into the water because he does not want to hand over the four riders and does not have the chip. After initial difficulties, Rhodes was able to free himself with the help of the watch, but he no longer had enough air to breathe and remained lying on the sea floor. Atlas pulls him out of the water and the riders can save him.

Then the five go back to the magic shop, where they are delighted to learn that the owners (Bu Bu and Li) are followers of "Auge". They also find out that the chip is not real. But they all agree that they should pretend they own him in order to have something against Walter Mabry. Now they are also planning their next coup, which is to take place in London .

When they arrive in London on New Year's Eve, they begin performing the magic tricks, each in a different location. Jack Wilder performs magic pieces with people from the audience on human-sized playing cards, while Lula does magic with pigeons and Atlas controls the weather and rain. Merritt McKinney wants to perform his play on Tower Bridge , but is stopped by his twin brother Chase. All four riders and Rhodes then want to flee together on motorbikes, but fall into the arms of Walter Mabry and Arthur Tressler again, who bring them to their plane and take the chip from them. After Walter Mabry has declared the chip to be real, they take off. Merritt McKinney's twin brother Chase suggests that the now no longer needed Reiter and Dylan Rhodes be thrown off the plane, which would mean their end. The proposal is implemented, the riders and Rhodes are kicked off the plane. But suddenly the power goes out in the plane, the riders and Dylan Rhodes appear at the side windows of the plane and a cheering crowd is on Tower Bridge and on the surrounding banks.

It turns out that this was all planned by the riders and Rhodes and they only faked the flight with the help of wind and water. In reality they are all still in London on a platform on the Thames; this was their finale and they enlighten everyone involved and spectators. Mabry and Tressler and Merritt's twin brother Chase are taken away by the FBI, Jack Wilder and Lula kiss; Rhodes and the riders then mysteriously disappear from the platform.

At the end you can see how the riders and Rhodes drive to the Greenwich Observatory and learn that Li and Bu Bu are there and that it is the headquarters of "Auge". The chip was forged by "Auge" and Allen Scott-Frank is also a member. In addition, Thaddeus Bradley surprisingly shows up, who explains that he, too, was behind all this and that Lionel Shrike and he were actually friends and partners. Dylan Rhodes believes him and now takes responsibility for the riders and planning the magic pieces, as Thaddeus Bradley resigns.
