action

Moose, who promised his mother that he would study engineering at New York University and stop dancing, stumbles into a dance contest. He meets Luke and his "crew", House of Pirates . This crew is made up of dance-loving street kids who have found a new home with Luke. Moose is excited and joins them. Together they train for the World Jam Dance Contest , as the prize money from this competition would solve the group's financial problems. The dancer Natalie also joins the group. However, she has the assignment of her brother Julian, the head of the House of Samurai and arch rival of Luke, to spy on the pirates . When Julian steals a training video from the Pirates and puts it online, she leaves the Pirates . Luke, who doesn't know anything about Natalie and Julian's relatives, remains confused.

Julian, who wants to destroy the House of Pirates , sends Luke a text message in Natalie's name, but without her knowledge, and invites him to his home. The ignorant Natalie is happy about Luke's visit. When Luke gives her his self-made film Born from a Boombox in an undisturbed moment , Julian appears. He exposes Natalie and mocks Luke. He then leaves the party in anger. Moose, who accompanied Luke but was actually invited to a Halloween party with his best friend Camille , is late for the party and both argue. The House of Pirates , meanwhile, has completely different problems: Julian had Luke expropriated the fortress , the accommodation and the rehearsal room of the pirates . Luke has no more advice and then dissolves the crew.

Moose, who has since made up with Camille and is encouraged by her to keep dancing, visits Luke at his new workplace. He encourages Luke not to give up, whereupon Luke quits the job. Almost the entire crew of the Pirates is waiting for him in front of the door . Together they promise to do their best at the World Jam Contest . In the meantime, Moose has organized a new rehearsal room and reinforcement: his old crew, the MSA .

At the beginning of the World Jam Contest , Natalie meets Luke, whom she asks to forgive her. But he is still deeply offended and tells her that he can no longer trust her. In the final battle against the samurai it initially seems as if they would win, but then Natalie intervenes: She steps on the dance floor for the Pirates and explains to her angry brother that she no longer wants to have anything to do with him. With this support, the Pirates take courage and can win the contest . While everyone is celebrating victory, Luke finds a letter from Natalie and a confirmation of admission to a film academy in California.

At the train station Natalie is said goodbye to the Pirates and Luke, who has decided to forgive Natalie, goes to California with her. When he set off, he gave Moose a package with his lucky shoes, the shoes that brought Moose to the Pirates. Moose realizes his feelings for Camille and kisses her.

Reviews

Step Up 3D fails all along the line and marks a new low point in the genre. Some will argue that this is nothing new in the genre, but with Step Up 3D it couldn't be more accurate. Apart from the soundtrack and a few nicely staged dance scenes, unfortunately, nothing more good can be said about the film. Better to go to the competition from England and watch StreetDance 3D , because it is exactly the opposite of Step Up 3D . "
