Justin Bieber's Believe is an American autobiographical concert film from 2013 . It is the sequel to the 2011 film Justin Bieber: Never Say Never .

action

The sequel to Bieber's first film Never Say Never shows 19-year-old Justin Bieber. The film answers open questions about his passion for music, relationships, and growing up in the spotlight. Unpublished concert and behind-the-scenes recordings can be seen. There are also interviews with Bieber's mother Pattie Mallette, his mentor Usher , his manager Scooter Braun, the artist Ludacris and others.

background

Rumors of a sequel first surfaced in May 2012 when Bieber personally suggested a possible sequel. The filming took place during the Believe concerts on January 26th and 27th 2013 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami . Two months later, in March 2013, it was announced that a budget of approximately four to five million US dollars would be allocated for production. On October 11, 2013, it was confirmed that Jon M. Chu would return to directing . Director Chu contradicted Bieber's advice in a trailer on his YouTube channel that the film would appear in 3D format . The premiere of the film took place on December 18, 2013, ultimately not in 3D.

reception

Todd Gilchrist from " The Wrap " had this to say about the film:

"Ultimately, it is difficult to recognize the film from a non-fan perspective as anything other than a hagiography - an honor to Bieber's success and a flattering representation of how well he allegedly handled it."

Matt Josef of We Got This Covered concluded:

“Even if the film doesn't ask all the right questions or give the answers we're looking for, the film is a perfectly harmless piece of work that will excite female fans around the world and entertain those who do haven't quite jumped on the 'Belieber train' yet. "
