Madcon is a Norwegian pop-rap duo founded in 1992 . The band consists of Tshawe Baqwa (born January 6, 1980 in Saarbrücken , Germany ) and Yosef Wolde-Mariam (born June 3, 1978 in Norway).
biography
The two musicians were discovered by the Norwegian producer duo Stargate . The song Beggin from their album So Dark the Con of Man , which was released on December 3, 2007, went platinum in Norway and was number 1 on the official Norwegian charts for 12 weeks . Beggin is a cover version of the song of the same name performed by the Four Seasons in 1967 .
Madcon presented the title Glow on the occasion of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 as "Eurovision Song Contest Flashmob Dance" on May 29, 2010 during the evaluation of the votes. Shortly thereafter, the song reached number 1 on the sales charts of the iTunes download portal in Germany and was awarded platinum in Germany. In the same year they released their single Freaky Like Me , which became their third number 1 single in Norway. In Germany the single reached number 9 and achieved gold status. The track was recorded together with Ameerah. In October 2010 her fourth studio album, Contraband , was finally released . After the two pre-singles, the third release was released a month later. It was called Outrun the Sun and was created in collaboration with singer Maad * Moiselle. This also gave her vocals to the last single from the album entitled Helluva the Night . In addition to the globally published version with US rapper Ludacris , a version with Culcha Candela member Mateo Jasik alias Itchy was also released due to its great success in Germany .
Numerous studio recordings were made in 2011 and 2012. In 2013 an album was released with the title Contakt , on which only tracks in their native language Norwegian can be found. The two decouplings also moved up into the top 20. Just a year later they released their sixth studio album Icon , which topped the success of their Norwegian-speaking predecessor and topped the Norwegian album charts. A few months earlier, the album was announced with the song One Life . In addition to Madcon, the American singer Kelly Rowland can also be heard on the track . The song reached number 6 in Germany. The second single on the album is called The Signal and was released in September 2013. This could also advance into the German single charts.
At the casting show Dein Song , Madcon took over the music sponsorship of Jasmin Himmelmann in 2014. Together they played Feline in the final on April 4th, but lost to DJ BoBo and his protégé Pier Luca Abel.
In the spring of 2015 the song Don't Worry was released together with the singer and rapper Ray Dalton , who is known for his contribution to the song Can't Hold Us . Even before it was released, the track was able to advance into the top 100 on iTunes just by pre-ordering. On April 12, 2015, the official release took place outside of Norway, where it appeared earlier. In their home country, the song rose to number 4 and even after a few hours the track was number 2 on the German iTunes charts, but did not make the jump past Wiz Khalifa's See You Again .
