Isla Fisher
Isla Ayala Lang Fisher [ 'aɪlə fɪʃər ] (born February 3, 1976 in Muscat , Oman ) is an Australian actress and writer with Scottish roots.
Life
Fisher was born in Muscat , the capital of Oman , where her father was a banker for the United Nations . The first name Isla is derived from Islay , the name of the southernmost island in the Scottish Inner Hebrides archipelago (Fisher's parents are both from Scotland). When she was nine months old, she moved to Australia with her family, where she grew up with two younger and two older brothers. Fisher currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Sacha Baron Cohen , whom she married on March 20, 2010. For this she converted to Judaism in order to be able to hold a Jewish wedding. The first daughter was born on October 17, 2007, and the second daughter was born in the summer of 2010. In March 2015, their third child, a son, was born.
She made her debut on Australian television in 1993 with the role of Robyn Devereaux in the short-lived television series Paradise Beach . The role that gave her the breakthrough was that of Shannon Reed in the soap opera Home and Away , which has aired since 1988 and in which she starred from 1994 to 1997. During this time she wrote two books, Seduced by Fame and Bewitched .
In 2002 she took on the role of Mary Jane in the movie Scooby-Doo . She had a bigger role in 2005 in The Wedding Crashers , which earned her the title "Best Newcomer" at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards . During the promotion of the film The Wedding Crashers , she was named the thousandth guest on the Australian talk show Rove Live on August 2, 2005 . In 2006 Fisher starred in the relationship drama London - Love of Life? alongside Jessica Biel , Chris Evans and Jason Statham . In 2008, Isla Fisher took on the role of Rebecca Bloomwood in the film version of the book Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella . Also in 2008, she took on the lead role of April Hoffman in the comedy film Maybe, maybe not alongside Ryan Reynolds . In 2013 she played the escape artist Henley Reeves in The Incredibles - Now You See Me at the side of Dave Franco, Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson . In the sequel, The Inconceivable 2 , she was unable to play due to pregnancy and was replaced by Lizzy Caplan .
In 2018 she was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
