Christopher Robert "Chris" Evans (born June 13, 1981 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is an American actor and film director .

Life

Chris Evans was born on June 13, 1981 in Boston , Massachusetts, the son of dentist Bob and dancer Lisa Evans, and grew up in Sudbury , Middlesex County . His mother is of Irish and Italian ancestry while his father has British and German ancestry. At first Evans was raised Catholic by his parents , then after reading Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha he began to be interested in Buddhism at the age of 17 and later converted to this belief. In the meantime, however, his spirituality has developed more and more in the direction of a pantheistic worldview, which differentiates less strictly between individual beliefs.

He has an older sister, a younger brother, Scott , and a younger sister. Scott is also an actor. Evans' uncle Mike Capuano was a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1999 to 2019 .

In 1999 he graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. His older sister Carly persuaded him to get into acting.

Evans made minor appearances in Boston Public in 2000 and 2001 , in the series remake On the Run, and a role on Opposite Sex , before his first notable role as Jake Wyler in the movie parody Not Another Played teen movie .
