action

Annie Braddock is a young woman from New Jersey who, after graduating in anthropology, falls into an identity crisis while looking for a job because she doesn't seem to know who she is herself. By chance she meets Mrs. X in Central Park , a young mother from the New York upper class, who, because of her name Annie, takes her to be a nanny and promptly offers her a job, which she accepts after a short thought.

On the day she moved into the posh apartment in the Upper East Side district, Annie noticed that her new job would be very different from what she had imagined. First, she learns that her predecessor has been fired because of a single date, then she is given a room in the apartment, which is more like a broom closet, and to top it all off, the son Grayer seems to hate her because he is still very fond of his old nanny hangs.

In the hallway, Annie soon meets Hayden , the attractive neighbor of the X family, who is initially only referred to as a Harvard hottie . During the first few weeks, Annie manages to get her relationship with Grayer under control, and the little boy takes her into his heart as a surrogate mother, since his real mother is self-centered and has no real relationship with her son. The father of the child was also unable to develop a relationship with the child; instead, he neglects the son and his wife, thereby causing family problems.

Annie's friendship with Hayden and her good relationship with Grayer, of which his mother becomes more and more jealous , the problems come to a head. Annie's wish for occasional free evenings is a thorn in Mrs. X's side. By installing the infamous Nanny Cam , she wants to confirm her concerns. Another problem for Annie is her mother, a dedicated nurse, who believes her daughter works in a bank and is only too happy to visit her after she has moved away from home.

After Mrs. X has come to the conclusion that Annie is not a good nanny, and she never even thinks of her son, she is unceremoniously discharged during a short vacation, which breaks the heart of her own child and the young nanny. To vent her anger, Annie decides to go into the empty apartment, to riot a little and to share her opinion with her former employer via nanny cam, without realizing that her words are with Mrs. X and a few other mothers a mutual meeting.

In the end, Mrs. X decides to separate from her husband and spend more time with her son. Annie becomes happy with her admirer Hayden.

Reviews

"The appealing satirical external perspective of the distantly observing and evaluating" researcher "is initially staged with great speed and with a lot of humor, but increasingly loses insight and turns into a forgiving, shallow comedy."

“A boring rubbish that even the distinctive leading actress as a long-suffering nanny or the usually good-humored Laura Linney as a bitter mother are not able to save. The story ripples too implausibly, predictably and insignificantly to function as a satire for would-be high society. "
