Shelley lives a carefree life as a Playboy bunny until she is thrown out of the Playboy Mansion . Fate leads the homeless ex-bunny into the house of the Zeta-Alpha-Zeta Sisterhood. The seven residents of the house run the risk of losing the house to the girls of Phi Iota My . So that they can keep the house, the somewhat unworldly girls need new members. Shelley is saved by teaching the Zeta girls what she understands most about: makeup and men. In return, Shelley learns from the sisters to develop their individuality . The result of the fateful collision of these two worlds is that both Shelley and the other girls learn what life has to offer.

Allusions to other films

  • Forrest Gump , Joanne, who always wears a corset similar to a knight's armor , is asked in a scene by Shelley to run. Just as Forrest suddenly loses his crutches on the run from his schoolmates and becomes a faster runner, this also happens here in House Bunny, when Joanne runs after her jogging crush.

Reviews

Ulrike Schroeder wrote in TV Digital 21 on 2 October 2008 that the film despite Aztecs parties with young women sacrifice and jelly volcano no tingling pleasure was and that the harmless dud after 30 minutes, the jokes would go out. But the main actress Faris is simply cute.

“[…] But for a long time 'House Bunny' is a lovable teen comedy with a lot of sexy show values. Towards the end, however, the story of the naive girlie in search of herself flattens out so much that the fun goes by. "

"Bland comedy that wavers indecisively and complacent between reactionary criticism and subsequent affirmation of what has just been criticized."
