Katharine Hope McPhee (born March 25, 1984 in Los Angeles ) is an American pop singer and actress .

Career history

In 2006, McPhee finished second on the American Idol talent show and received a recording deal with RCA Records . Her first album Katharine McPhee was released in January 2007 . Her first single Over It reached number 29 on the US charts. The album landed at number 2 on the US album charts . In 2008 the contract with RCA ended. Her second album Unbroken was released in early 2010 by her new record company Verve Records and reached number 27 in the charts.

Since 2008 she has also appeared as an actress, for example in the movie House Bunny . From 2012 to 2013 she played the lead role of Karen Cartwright in the musical series Smash . From 2014 to 2018 she played the role of Paige Dineen in the television series Scorpion .
