The Rocker - Voll der (S) Hit is an American comedy from 2008 . It was directed by Peter Cattaneo and scriptwriters were Maya Forbes, Wallace Wolodarsky and Ryan Jaffe.

In the mid-1980s, Robert "Fish" Fishman is the drummer of the rising band "Vesuvius". When the latter beckons the record deal, “Fish” is thrown out of the band without further ado to make room for the nephew of the record company's boss. 20 years later Vesuvius are the most successful band of all time. Fish now works in a call center and when a colleague at work draws his attention to the band's success, he beats them up. He is then fired and thrown out by his girlfriend, which is why he has to move in with his sister Lisa.
Their son, for his part, plays in a band, ADD, which is looking for a drummer just before their first gig. After several incompetent candidates, the choice finally falls on Fish. Although he is right in his element, his eccentric demeanor and ecstasy at the end of the evening scares the rather young audience at the first appearance.
"Fish" is thrown out of the band for the time being, but is reconciled with the band and due to his promise to get a gig he is re-accepted into the band. After trying to find something through old contacts, the next gig is too far away and he decides to steal his sister's car. However, when he is caught by the police, he has to move out with his sister and from then on he lives in the basement of a snack bar.
Since the band can no longer meet for rehearsals, they decide to practice over a webcam conference. Fish, however, gets the concept wrong and thinks the webcam is a microphone, which is why he only appears naked for a rehearsal. Matt's sister notices this and puts the whole thing on the Internet platform YouTube without the band's knowledge . There, the same record company becomes aware of the band again, which also helped Vesuvius to break through.
After ADD is touring the world and finally seems to have made the breakthrough, she is supposed to play as the opening act for the legendary Vesuvius. At the concert it was revealed in front of thousands of spectators that Vesuvius was using the playback and so the band was booed. The audience asks ADD to come back on stage and so instead of Vesuvius, ADD gives the main concert at the end.
criticism
The film had mixed reviews. The website Metacritic determined a mean value of 53/100 points based on 28 reviews. Including the criticism from CSmonitor.com:
“Wilson is pretty much the whole show. With nobody else around to steal from, he ends up stealing scenes from himself. 83/100 points. "

Due to these reviews and the very poor box office results in the USA, The Rocker - Voll der (S) Hit was not shown in some German cinemas.
