Nick's friend and important informant is Ian Stewart, who runs a diving school and the Tropical Heat Bar . He has contacts with the local police through the coroner Rollie and Lt. Carillo. After Ian and Lt. Carillo left Florida, it is Spider and Sgt. Gregory who solve the cases with Nick and Sylvie.
