AFM Records is an independent label based in Hamburg that specializes in hard rock and heavy metal . It has been part of Soulfood Music Distribution GmbH since 2010 .

Company history

The company was founded on April 15, 1993 in Schwalmstadt, Hesse, by Andreas "Henner" Allendörfer. Allendörfer was the singer of the power metal band Squealer , which at the time was looking for a music label without a record deal . There were interested parties, but Allendörfer decided to release the debut album Make Your Day on his own record label. In addition to Allendörfer, Axel Fischer, guitarist from Squealer, played a key role in founding the label, which is why the abbreviation “AFM” stands for “Allendörfer Fischer Musik”.

The first business premises were in Allendörfer's parental home, and in 1995 the first permanent employee was hired. A little later, AFM Records signed the power metal band Edguy and released their second album in 1998, which was the label's most commercially successful release to date. There followed contracts and a. with Tankard and UDO 2004 AFM Records had seven employees, around 20 bands under contract and released around 10 albums per year. After the company founder died in a traffic accident in January 2005, the company was restructured and the headquarters relocated to Hamburg. Since mid-2005, Candlelight Records has been the license partner for the USA and Latin America. AFM Records GmbH had around 60 bands under contract at the beginning of 2009. In 2010 AFM Records and Soulfood were merged , the legal entity has been Soulfood Music Distribution GmbH since then. There is an exclusive distribution agreement with Infinity Entertainment for sales in Greece and Cyprus .
