At Vance is a German power metal band that has existed since 1998 .

history

The band was founded in 1998 by singer Oliver Hartmann ( ex -Centers / Avantasia ) and guitarist Olaf Lenk ( ex - Velvet Viper , then Olaf Jung). In 1998 she got a contract with Shark Records.

Together with Rainald König (guitar), Uli Müller (keyboard), Jochen Schnur (bass) and Jürgen Lucas (drums), the debut album No Escape was recorded and released in 1999 . In addition to the self-composed songs, the first work also features an interpretation of Vivaldi's summer and a cover of the ABBA song Money, Money, Money .

In 2000, the band continued this line with the second album Heart of Steel . With SOS it contains another ABBA hit, as well as a classic piece by Chopin (Etude No. 4). The album was a surprise hit, especially in Japan, and encouraged At Vance to release the follow-up Dragonchaser in 2001 .

In the following year the band changed labels and is now under contract with AFM Records , but lost two of their musicians, Uli Müller and Jochen Schnur. Shortly afterwards, the fourth album, Only Human , was released, with which the band, together with Rhapsody and Angel Dust , went on a European tour. After the tour, Oliver Hartmann switched to the Italian band Empty Tremor , his place was taken by Mats Levén (ex- Yngwie Malmsteen ).

In 2003 At Vance recorded the most successful album to date, The Evil in You . This was followed by a tour with the US band Kamelot .

In 2004 Rainald König and Sascha Feldmann left the band. Feldmann was replaced by John 'ABC' Smith (Ex-Scanner / Gallows Pole). Marc Cross (ex- Helloween ) was hired for the drums.

After the 2005 tour with Brainstorm and Mercenary , differences of opinion arose, which led to Olaf Lenk separating from the rest of the band. Despite all the quarrels, the new album Chained makes it into the Scandinavian charts.

The seventh album VII was released in June 2007 . Rick Altzi (Treasure Land) was hired as the new singer. In August, Olaf Lenk introduced two new band members. From now on Manuel Walther (Purple Haze) on bass and Alex Landenburg ( Annihilator , Philosophobia) on drums join the band.

In May 2009 the band announced on their MySpace page that Manuel Walther has left the band and 'Wolfman' Black, previously with the German band Justice , is the band's new bass player.
