Jutta Weinhold (born October 19, 1947 in Mainz ) is a German rock singer .

Career

Jutta Weinhold's Akustik Randale, June 13, 2009

After Weinhold had already sung in amateur bands in the late 1960s, she was hired in 1969 for the role of "Sheila" in the musical Hair and in 1972 for the musicals Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar . This was followed in 1974 with appearances on Amon Düül II and in the television show disco with the song Cadillac ("... drive away") . From 1975 Jutta Weinhold played blues sessions with the Kaftan Blues Band. In the atmosphere of the Hamburg rock scene, she released the LP “Coming” in 1976 under her name, which was followed in 1978 by the album “Jutta Weinhold”. From 1976 to 1978 she was a guest musician with Udo Lindenberg , this collaboration resulted in Udo Lindenberg's first live album Livehaftig in 1979 , in which she sang all female vocal parts . For a production by the Berlin Senate in 1980, the Jutta Weinhold Band recorded the LP Make a Bow to Drugs . After she had released the German-language album “Volksmusik” with the Breslau formation in 1982 , she came under the unfounded suspicion of sympathy for right-wing ideas due to the at least ambiguous naming and the provocative lyrics.

In 1985 she founded the band Zed Yago , with whose concept albums she co-founded the genre of Dramatic Metal . The Zed Yago story is based on the experiences of the fictional daughter of the flying Dutchman . Because of a legal dispute over the band name, this concept was later continued under the names Velvet Viper and Weinhold, without being able to build on the success of Zed Yago from the late 1980s.

In addition to these projects, which combine heavy metal with elements of classical music, Jutta Weinhold is a sought-after session and studio musician. Her expressive and powerful voice is not only suitable for rock, but also for blues and gospel .

In October 2011 Jutta Weinhold published her first book "The Daughter of the Flying Dutchman: In Search of the Lost PhantaSIE", which again revolves around the daughter of the Flying Dutchman.

Jutta Weinhold has been performing with the Jutta Weinhold Band ( JWB ) since 2012 . Band members are the former bandmate Claus Reinholdt († 2018), also known as Bubi "The Schmied" Blacksmith, from Zed Yago (drums) and Carsten "Sharky" Meyer (bass). The quartet is completed by Kai Reuter “Das Reuterbrett” on guitar, who also plays guitar with Jutta Weinhold's Akustik Randale .
