Money, Money, Money is a song by the Swedish pop group ABBA from 1976. Benny Andersson composed the music , Björn Ulvaeus wrote the lyrics . Anni-Frid Lyngstad took over the lead vocals . In November 1976 the song was released as the second single from the album Arrival , along with Crazy World as the B-side.

It is about a woman who, despite hard work, can barely survive financially and therefore wants a wealthy man.

background

The genesis of this song resembles that of Why Did It Have To Be Me? which was also recorded for the new album. In both cases, the working title became the final title. Since Ulvaeus thought that the subject of money was already present in too many songs, he tried various other variants. One of them was Gypsy Girl . However, because this did not lead to anything, Ulvaeus finally decided on the title Money, Money, Money .

Gypsy Girl came out more difficult somehow. In the end I went back to Money, Money, Money , that just sounded the best "

Recordings for Money, Money, Money began on May 17, 1976. According to a later statement by Ulvaeus, the text was meant ironically. In October a music video was shot in a kimono outfit.
