Under Attack was written in early August 1982 and was recorded around the same time. It was one of the few songs that came about in the studio due to the tight deadlines. Cassandra was also created alongside this piece . Because Andersson and Ulvaeus weren't sure whether Cassandra would be suitable for the A-side of a single, they composed The Day Before You Came , which was preferred to Under Attack and released as a single in October 1982. Both tracks were released on the compilation The Singles - The First 10 Years because the idea of a new studio album was discarded.
Under Attack was first performed on November 11, 1982 on the German television show "Show Express". On November 16, a music video was shot that shows the group in an abandoned warehouse and was the last music video that ABBA produced. Only three days later the musicians were guests on the Swedish program “Nöjesmaskinen”, where they also performed Under Attack .
