ABBA Live was the only official live album by the pop group ABBA for 28 years, until the release of ABBA Live at Wembley on September 26, 2014 . It was released on August 18, 1986, four years after the band split in late 1982. The release of the live album in 1986 led to speculation around the world at the time about a possible reunification of the pop group.

Emergence

Four years after ABBA split up, Polar Music decided to release a live album . However, neither ABBA nor the audience was interested in this sound carrier. ABBA Live was one of the few flops in ABBA's discography because, contrary to other experiences, the sales numbers were miserable.

Eight of the pieces were recorded during a series of six ABBA concerts at London's Wembley Arena in November 1979 , two from the 1977 tour of Australia and four from the television show Dick Cavett meets Abba in 1981. The album was released by Polydor in 1992 as CD and released again in 1997 as a remastered CD and is currently no longer available.

Reviews

The album was also not received positively by the music critics; The magazine Audio reviewed ABBA hits with a touch of sweat in March 2004 "Live" and only awarded 2 out of 5 stars. The Billboard, on the other hand, sees the live recording as often underrated ( often underestimated ) and apparently superfluous [...] with the various hit compilations on CD , but also states that the title Does Your Mother Know puts the studio playback to shame and the vocals is never less than numbing.
