Knowing Me, Knowing You is a song by the Swedish pop group ABBA from 1976. It was written by Benny Andersson , Björn Ulvaeus and Stig Anderson , the lead vocals were sung by Anni-Frid Lyngstad . The piece was first released on the album Arrival and was released in February 1977 as the last single from the album.

Emergence

The song was the first to be recorded in the recording sessions for the Arrival album on March 23, 1976. The guitar overdubs were added on May 25th. Knowing Me, Knowing You was the first ABBA song to deal with the subject of "broken relationships". Later ABBA songs like The Winner Takes It All , One of Us and When All Is Said And Done deal with the same subject. Before Stig Anderson delivered the final title, working titles like Ring It In or Number One, Number One came into question. Björn Ulvaeus said of the lyrics he wrote:

“Even if that's deeply rooted in you and based on something you've experienced, the lyrics are still 90 percent fiction. I only worked with pictures. I saw this man walking through his empty house for the last time - a symbol of divorce. I only described what I saw. Personally, I hadn't gone through that yet. "

- Bjorn Ulvaeus

The B-side of the single, Happy Hawaii, has been replaced by other titles in some countries, such as Money, Money, Money in Hungary and Italy .
