ABBA Live at Wembley Arena is an album of live recordings by the Swedish pop band ABBA , released on September 29, 2014 as a CD / LP set and as a download from Polar Music .
The album was produced by Ludvig Andersson and includes the complete concert in London's Wembley Arena (today: The SSE Arena, Wembley) on November 10, 1979, the last of the six concerts in the arena.
Many ABBA hits from the first eight years can be found on the album. In addition, the previously never released I'm Still Alive , written and sung by Agnetha Fältskog , text by Björn Ulvaeus , was also published on the album.
overview
ABBA will play 6 concerts at Wembley Arena from November 5, 1979 to November 10, 1979 as part of their 1979 North American and European tour. The tour is titled: ABBA: The Tour .
Many songs from the Wembley concerts were filmed for a TV special called ABBA in Concert , which aired in 1980. The song " The Way Old Friends Do ", played as an encore at the concerts, later became part of the album Super Trouper , where it ends. Songs from the Wembley concerts can also be found on the 1986 album ABBA Live , but were remixed in the studio by producer Michael B. Tretow . The BBC had its own version of the concert produced and showed the one-hour recording at Christmas 1979. This special is in circulation as a bootleg as ABBA - Live In London .
In an interview in December 2013, ABBA songwriter and pianist Benny Andersson announced that the album would be released just as it was in 2014, as part of the band's 40th anniversary.
Andersson mentioned that his son Ludvig sifted through hours of footage trying to find the right material. It was Ludvig who decided that the November 10, 1979 concert would be released as an album. This decision was approved by all ABBA members.
On June 9, 2014 it was announced on the official ABBA Facebook page and on the Instagram account that the album would be released on September 29, 2014. The song list was published on June 10, 2014.
The album does not include the song Not Bad At All , played on tour by the backing vocalists and the Swedish pop singer Tomas Ledin .
