Louk Sorensen (born January 7, 1985 in Schwäbisch Hall ) is an Irish tennis player . It has been listed as inactive on the ATP website since the beginning of 2016.

Career

Louk Sorensen mainly plays on the ATP Challenger Tour and the ITF Future Tour . So far he has celebrated four single and one double victories on the Future Tour. On the Challenger Tour he has so far won the tournament in Wolfsburg in 2008. On September 8, 2014, he broke through the top 200 of the world rankings in singles for the first time and his highest placement was a 175th place in September 2014.

He made his debut in singles on the ATP World Tour in January 2010 at the Aircel Chennai Open , where he qualified for the main draw, but then clearly lost in two sets to Stéphane Robert . At the following Australian Open in 2010 he surprisingly won his opening game against Lu Yen-hsun as a qualifier , but then lost smoothly against John Isner in the second round . He reached the next maindraw at the US Open 2011, but lost here in the first round. He reached the last main draw for the time being at the MercedesCup in July 2014. He was able to win the 1st round as a lucky loser, but then lost in three sets in the round of 16 against the eventual tournament winner Roberto Bautista Agut . With his win in the first round of the US Open 2010, Sorensen is the only Irishman to date to have won a game in the Open Era at the Grand Slam level .

Louk Sorensen has played for the Irish Davis Cup team since 2005 . For this he competed in ten encounters, whereby he has a balance of 10: 2 in individual cases.

Sorensen has not played a professional tournament since the beginning of 2015.
