Alexander "Alex" Landenburg (born October 30, 1979 in Ottweiler ) is a German drummer.

Career

Landenburg attended the Ottweiler grammar school in Saarland . There he started playing drums in the school's big band at the age of eleven . At the same time he played in the local power metal band Angels Cry from Neunkirchen , which recorded a demo and a single in 1997 . After graduating from high school , he taught at private music schools for a few years. He was also involved in various local bands.

He became known from 2007. In that year he took over the role of tour drummer at Annihilator . In 2010 he replaced the sick Jörg Michael at Stratovarius . As a live drummer he was also involved in Timo Tolkki's band Symfonia , Bonfire and Masterplan . He joined Axxis as a permanent drummer from 2008 to 2011 . In addition, he has been a member of the progressive metal band Mekong Delta since 2007 , with whom he has recorded three albums so far. Together with Marco Wriedt he is a founding member of the band 21Octayne , which debuted in 2014 with Into the Open on AFM Records . Since 2012 he has also played with Luca Turilli's Rhapsody , replacing Alex Holzwarth , who stayed with Rhapsody of Fire . Landenburg was first heard on the single Rosenkreuz (The Rose and the Cross) .

Since 2016, Landenburg has also played in the band Cyhra with the former in-flames musicians Jesper Strömblad and Peter Iwers .

Instruments

Landenburg played drums from the company DrumCraft from 2009 to 2015 , which dedicated a special model limited to 50 pieces to him in 2010. He has been playing drums for the Mapex company since 2017. He also plays cymbals from Zildjian , heads from Remo and sticks from Vater . He has been an endorser for the e-drum brand 2box since 2009 .

In 2010, Landenburg was awarded a place in the category “The Heroes of Tomorrow” by the drum magazine Drumheads in the special edition “Drumheroes - the best German drummers”.
