Alex Holzwarth
Alex Holzwarth (born October 4, 1968 in Landshut ) is a German drummer from the international power metal scene.
Life
Alex Holzwarth began playing drums in his childhood after his brother Oliver Holzwarth , who was one year older, started playing the bass. The two lived in Frankfurt at the time and Holzwarth first learned from a teacher and after a year he began to continue self-taught. Alex Holzwarth was a founding member of the progressive rock band Sieges Even, in which he was active until they broke up in 2008. After three years in the band he took drum lessons again, this time at the Drummers Focus music school .
From the 2000 album Dawn of Victory he was a permanent member of the band Rhapsody and remained loyal to it even after it was renamed Rhapsody of Fire. He also played on the first album of Luca Turilli's Rhapsody . His brother Oliver Holzwarth also played bass with Rhapsody of Fire from 2011 to 2014. In 2016 he left Rhapsody of Fire to devote himself to other projects.
As a substitute drummer he played with Angra and Blind Guardian , with the latter together with his brother. He recorded their live album with Blind Guardian in 2003. Between 2016 and 2018 he was a member of the power metal band Serious Black . He also took part in the metal operas Avantasia by Tobias Sammet , Marius Danielsen 's Legend of Valley Doom and Timo Tolkki 's Avalon.
