Tobias Sammet
Tobias Sammet (born November 21, 1977 in Fulda ) is a German musician , composer and music producer . He is the initiator of the all-star band Avantasia and singer and founding member of the heavy metal band Edguy .
Act
Sammet founded the band Edguy with school friends in 1992 . Under the musical influence of AC / DC , Freddie Mercury ( Queen ), and Helloween , for example , the typical Power Metal sound of his band was created, in which he mainly acts as a singer and front man.
After a few tours and chart placements with Edguy , Sammet founded his all-star project Avantasia and released a metal opera under this name. Initially planned as a one-off studio project, he brought Avantasia back to life in 2006 and from then on regularly produced concept albums and rock operas under this name . When he was offered the evening program on the main stage with Avantasia at Wacken Open Air in front of 75,000 spectators in 2008 , he decided to bring his side project to the stage. Since then, in addition to Edguy, he has been touring regularly with Avantasia in North and South America, Asia, Europe and, since 2019, also in Australia.
Sammet worked in his studio projects, for example, Alice Cooper , guitarist Rudolf Schenker , with drummer Eric Singer and the singers Jørn country , Klaus Meine ( Scorpions ), Eric Martin ( Mr. Big ), Jon Oliva , Rob Rock and Bob Catley of Magnum together .
The Japanese magazine Burrn! named Sammet "Best Songwriter 2010".
With more than three million records sold, 12 world tours in over 40 countries, numerous chart placements and concerts at all major festivals (including 10 shows at the Wacken Open Air ), Tobias Sammet is one of the most internationally successful German rock musicians of his generation.

Sammet grew up in the south of the Fulda district . He attended the Freiher-vom-Stein high school in Fulda, where he graduated from high school. Sammet is married and lives with his family near Fulda. Since 2014 he has had a weekly radio show on the private broadcaster Radio Bob . At a headlining show by the band Edguy at the Bang Your Head Festival , Sammet fell from the stage during the concert in 2012; Despite injuries, he sang until the end of the concert, but then went to hospital for treatment.
