Felix Bohnke (born September 2, 1974 in Königstein im Taunus ) is a German drummer who is best known for his work with the band Edguy .

Career

At the age of eight, Bohnke played in a drum group for the first time. Two years later he received his first individual lessons at the Konstanz music school . At that time he was already playing with a percussion group until, according to his own statements, he got a taste for hard rock through the Tele 5 broadcast Hard 'n Heavy in 1987 . After his family moved to Marburg in the late 1980s , he increasingly learned rock drums at the music school there. There he founded his first band Merciless Gnom , in which he was active for six years and with which he released three demo recordings . He also had a band called Exiled and played in the big band at his school.

From 1993 to 2002 Felix Bohne played sporadically as a drummer in the band Squealer , in which Tobias 'Eggi' Exxel was also active.

In the summer of 1998 Felix Bohnke joined the German power metal band Edguy . The band has since released nine studio albums; Age Of The Joker reached number 3 in the German album charts in 2011 . The release of the tenth album SPACE POLICE - Defenders Of The Crown is planned for April 2014 . Bohnke played with Edguy as the opening act for Aerosmith , Deep Purple , Slash and Motörhead . He has also played several times at international festivals such as the Download Festival or the Wacken Open Air .

In addition, Felix Bohnke is still active as the drummer in Tobias Sammet's solo project Avantasia . He made guest appearances on the albums The Wicked Symphony and Angel Of Babylon and has performed live with the band. Bohnke completed all three tours with Avantasia, the Scarecrow World Tour , the Metal Opera Comes to Town Tour and the Mystery World Tour .
