Avantasia at Sweden Rock Festival 2008

The Scarecrow World Tour was the first world tour of Metal - Opera Avantasia by Tobias Sammet . It started on June 5, 2008 in Switzerland and ended on August 13, 2008 in Hungary .

prehistory

Originally, Tobias Sammet never wanted to bring his Avantasia project onto the stage. They did get some offers, but he always turned them down. However, when Wacken Open Air asked in 2007 whether he would headline the festival in 2008, he and the new producer Sascha Paeth decided to embark on a world tour.

The tour then started on June 5, 2008 in Huttwil at the Rocksound Festival. She brought the band to 13 concerts in 13 different countries, spread across several continents.

In spring 2011 the DVD / CD set The Flying Opera was released , which contains an entire Avantasia concert, mixed from the two concerts from the Masters of Rock Festival in the Czech Republic and the performance at Wacken Open Air in Germany. There is also a documentary about the trip, commented by Tobias Sammet and old and new music videos.

At the end of the documentary, Sammet says that such a tour is probably no longer possible, although there was already a new tour at the time of publication. This suggests that the interview was recorded at the time of the tour.
